Festive celebrations were welcomed at Mudavanhu School for the Disabled recently with a special Christmas party for the children, during which Antelope Park volunteers cooked a delicious feast.
The day began with an enormous amount of food preparation; cleaning and cutting up a variety of vegetables and meat. As they waited excitedly, the children played music and danced. Although the volunteers had been tasked with cooking a large amount of food, they were able to serve it up in good time, proving that many hands make light work. After the meal, when the children saw the cake that the volunteers had brought for them as a special Christmas treat, their faces lit up. Everyone agreed that it had been a perfect day.
Following the celebration, Brenda, one of Antelope Park’s Volunteer Coordinators said: ‘Mudavanhu School for the Disabled’s Christmas party was fabulous. Many a thanks to the volunteers for preparing such a good meal for these kids; it was an event they will never forget in their lives. Happiness is not limited by disabilities, but is found in one’s heart and surely the Christmas party was an unforgettable experience. Love is kind.’
