An update from Victoria Falls
February 17 2014

The children from Monde Primary School in Victoria Falls are continuing to work hard in class.  They especially look forward to visits from Lion Encounter’s community volunteers who teach lessons in English, mathematics and science topics.

The grade two class had a great time recently learning about the weather.  They got involved in the lesson, asking and answering questions and creating artwork to show off what they had learned.  At the end of the session, they proudly displayed their work on the classroom walls.

Please make a donation today to help ALERT continue to support local schools in Victoria Falls and around our other project sites.

Volunteers have also been busy at the Victoria Falls Old People’s Home, where renovations have been carried out on one of the cottages.  Cleaning the walls, mending cracks and painting was followed by planting fruit trees and vegetables at the home.  A tiring, but rewarding day.

A cultural tour of one of the rural villages in nearby Ntabayengwe provided a day with a difference for volunteers.  They were taught how to care for livestock, plant vegetables and plough the land, as well as tasting traditional food they helped to cook on an open fire.  The day ended with a traditional dance presentation by local children.

You could volunteer on one of our community projects. Find out more details here.
