A current Victoria Falls community volunteer, Chen Avraham, has been spending a lot of time with children from the Grade five class at Monde Primary School during her stay in Zimbabwe. Noticing that the learning environment wasn’t very bright, she set about creating wall charts to make the classroom more visually stimulating for the students. As well as an alphabet display, Chen drew pictures to remind the children of the things they had been learning in their recent lesson about different food groups. The children were excited to watch her progress and are delighted with the finished result. Chen is equally delighted in the improvements these students have made in their learning during the time she has been at the school; a highlight of her volunteer experience.
Meanwhile, volunteers have been hard at work assisting project members in the Victoria Falls community gardens. The time has come for the task of replanting new seedlings into the beds and the all-important watering. The volunteers have been kept busy making sure that everything is well maintained to give the new crops a good chance of producing a bumper harvest later in the year. The project members look forward to seeing the volunteers; not only for their help with the work, but also to enjoy their company in the garden.
