Fundraising not for the faint-hearted
December 3 2014

Jo Briffitt is no stranger to organising fundraising events for ALERT. Her past successes have included bake sales and BBQs, but this time Jo and her fellow members of Plymouth University’s Zoological Society have excelled themselves with their biggest fundraiser of the year.

On Monday December 1st, the Student’s Union was transformed into a jungle for a Bush Tucker Trial fundraising evening. ‘I’m a Student - Get Me out of Here!’ saw university students and lecturers competing in five stomach-churning trials:

1. Sickening Shakes

2. Jungle Slime Shop

3. Chilli con Grubby

4. The Spiders Nest

5. Celebrity Cyclone

The audience was charged an entrance fee to watch the show and all proceeds have been donated to ALERT.  Dr Norman Monks, ALERT’s Director of Conservation, was a special guest at the event, which was such a huge success that Jo is now hoping to make it an annual event. Many thanks for everyone who took part.

Jo is a member of the Pride of ALERT Fundraising Network.  If you would like to join and organise your own fundraising events, please email Helen at helen@lionalert.org for more details.
