Grade five students from Monde Primary School in Victoria Falls have enjoyed exploring their creativity with an imaginative lesson conducted by community volunteer Chen, during which they got the chance to combine art with drama. Chen read a story to the class and then invited the children to choose their favourite characters. They drew masks of the characters, which they then wore to act out the story. This activity was valuable, as it helped the children to understand the story at a deeper level and to talk about the characters. Chen has been with the children for two months, so they are very relaxed in her company, which showed in how eager they were to participate in the drama; even the quieter members of the class.
Work for project members and volunteers continues at Chinotimba garden, with the potato seedlings now ready for transplanting. Now that the garden regularly supplies produce to local hotels and supermarkets, one project gardener is currently spending a month at the Victoria Falls Hotel where he is studying greenhouse training. He is full of exciting new ideas and is looking forward to helping the garden project expand even further in the coming months.
