Making sweet music for ALERT
February 7 2014

A huge thank you goes to Livingstone volunteer Akash Patel who has raised £1,430 for ALERT through a successful music event held last weekend.

Here, Akash talks about the event and why he felt compelled to support ALERT:

‘Spending two weeks with Lion Encounter in Livingstone highlighted the plight of African Lion to me.  I sought to raise money for ALERT - to support the work I witnessed first-hand -through the sitar, which I have been playing for over ten years.  The event took place on Sunday 2nd February, to raise money through Indian Classical Music.  The concert involved tabla, sitar and vocal performances, which the audience enjoyed.

Overall, we managed to raise £1,430 through the event, which was very successful.  It also importantly created awareness of the innovative work of ALERT and the ever-increasing threat to the African Lion was.  I now aim to hold another fundraising event in the near future.’
