Children from the Victoria Falls Orphanage are always full of enthusiasm for their lessons with community volunteers. They concentrate on English and mathematics, with time set aside for story reading and arts and crafts projects. It is encouraging to see their skills improving week by week and importantly, their confidence with people.
A recent visit was a particularly happy one for one youngster. Ngonidzashe was celebrating his birthday when the volunteers arrived with cakes. Fun and dancing brought a smile to everyone’s face and the birthday boy was especially happy to have so many people at a party for his special day.
Proof, if more proof was needed, that volunteers at our project in Victoria Falls are an amazing bunch! When they discovered that the local old people’s home did not have a television set, a group of volunteers got together to buy one. It was received with gratitude by the residents, who appreciated such a generous gift.
