Whether the weather be fine
March 20 2014

Why does it rain so much in Livingstone at this time of the year?  Why is the sun shining today?  What makes a rainbow?  These are some of the questions that the children of the Natebe Primary School were asked to consider at last Saturday’s Kids Club.

Some gave good answers to these questions, while others had no idea at all.  Lion Encounter volunteers; Catherine from Australia and Charlotte from Norway conducted a lesson on weather and, by the end of it, all of the students were able to shout out the answers to these questions and many more.

The children were also taught that being able to predict what the weather would be like can help them plan what they want to do.  They were given the example of someone planning a party in their garden.  If the forecast was for rain, they could either change the day or the venue for the party.  Without that understanding of weather conditions, their party would literally be a washout.
