African solutions to African challenges

At 13 years old a young Kenyan inventor Richard Turere has come up with a solution to protect his family's livelihood.  The solution to safeguard the family's cattle from lion predation is costing only $10 compared to $1000 for materials to set up a lion-proof boma.  

ALERT believes that the best solutions to the challenges facing Africa's people and wildlife will come from Africans themselves. We hope that this idea proves successful and maybe can be a model for use elsewhere to face a huge threat to remaining lion populations.
