Last Friday the ALERT Education Centre teacher, Staben, accompanied by some Antelope Park volunteers visited Mkoba 4 Primary School during their assembly. As reported previously, 42 grade 6 students from Mkoba 4 Primary School celebrated their graduation from the ALERT Education Centre in April where individual photos were taken of them. To create excitement in the school and honour the commitment of these students the AEC presented certificates, the individual photos, as well as an “I’m a conservation star” T-Shirt to them during their school Assembly.
The students were delighted and put their T Shirts on over their uniforms immediately. More and more students at Mkoba 4 Primary cannot wait to start the course at the AEC.
The AEC’s Conservation education course teaches children the importance of conservation and the impact of their environment and their future, the adaptions and the conservation of African animals; different African habitats, their ecosystems and the daily needs people have upon them; the geography, culture and diversity of African countries; the conservation and value of African cats; as well as basic skills in tracking and identifying animal spoor.
