There are exciting developments underway at the new site for the Midlands Children’s Hope Centre (MCHC) orphanage building.
A 120,000 litre water reservoir has been installed and is now being filling with water. To capture rainwater and keep leaves out, a framed cover made of high-grade shade cloth will soon be fitted. The Durawall is also nearing completion. Once the site is secure, MCHC will be able to commence its vegetable and poultry projects. Representatives from the Department of Agriculture have visited the site to help staff assess the best location for the vegetable gardens and position for the poultry pens.
Currently construction plans are being drafted for the first foundations of the new building, which will be used for the boys’ accommodation, a lounge, dining area, kitchen, laundry room and reception/offices. Antelope Park community volunteers have joined the boys from the orphanage in clearing the land around the site and marking out the location of their future playground.
Everyone involved is extremely excited about this project, which will mark a new chapter in the history of the Midlands Children’s Hope Centre.
