Alan Calder-mcnicoll, Founder of the Champions For Children network, is raising money to support the Midlands Children’s Hope Centre (MCHC) and needs your help:
‘The Midlands Children’s Hope Centre, a privately-run orphanage for boys in Gweru Zimbabwe, is currently under the threat of closure. Located in a four-bedroom rented house, it is home to 30 boys; most sleeping two to a single bed, with eight children per room. This is their home - where they are loved and cared for by dedicated and caring staff. However, recently the accommodation has been categorised as unfit for purpose. As orphanage regulations state that no more than 10 children can share a home of this size, MCHC management has been advised that new premises, which conform to recognised standards need to be determined by August. As a life back on the streets would be intolerable for these children, I am fundraising to support the construction of a new orphanage to be built on existing land acquired prior to the inspection. The land, in the nearby township of Mkoba, has sufficient space to build a new facility which will house all of these children.’
Champions For Children and Midlands Children Hope Project (MCHP), a Norwegian NGO who purchased the new land, have joined forces to launch a fundraising campaign called MAYWAVE. They are asking you to show your support by visiting http://lionalert.org/page/Champions_for_Children and following four simple steps to make your donation.
