On the morning of the 23rd of April the pride was located in the Etosha area of Ngamo, resting peacefully under a tree whilst the cubs fought for space on top of a nearby ant hill. The pride became vigilant to an unknown source and decided it was time to move. Alpha female, Phyre, led the procession and, one by one, the rest of the pride followed through the ever shortening grass in a southerly direction.
Phyre decided on a resting spot, and as she settled into a comfortable position each of the members of the pride slowly began to take their places around her. Milo, who was lagging behind a little during the walk, arrived, choosing for himself a spot a little away from the crowd for some peace and quiet. Phyre has selected a location not far from the remnants of a recent zebra kill. The scattered bones captured AS4's interest. After giving them a good sniff she found a suitable bone to gnaw on, removing all of the flesh that had been left behind. Once the bone had been sufficiently cleared of any leftovers she moved back and joined the K cubs, huddled around Nala.
AS4 gnaws on a bone
The morning of the 24th saw winter begin its grip on Ngamo. The pride huddled together in Tree Tops. A wafting breeze of the day before had now developed strength, forcing the pride closer together in search of warmth from the prevailing cold wind. The sound of crows in the near distance alerted Kenge from her slumber and she moved off in search of the commotion. The other females and cubs became equally inquisitive and slowly followed Kenge; Nala and Narnia bringing up the rear. The pride moved through the grass and thickets of Tree Tops, coming to rest near Leopard Tree. Once again the pride huddled together for warmth against the cold wind blowing through the area, quickly losing interest in the crows that had gained their attention. AT1 and Kenge found a rare patch of sun breaking through the clouds to warm themselves.
