Midlands Children's Hope Centre (MCHC) is celebrating the completion of the new chicken runs at the new orphanage site. They will soon be welcoming their first batch of day old chicks!
With the assistance of some Zimbabwean builders New Zealanders, Garry Howard, Don McLellan and Reece Walsh (pictured below) have overseen the building project.
The first block has a storeroom built on one side so that MCHC can have feed and supplies close by and locked up. MCHC hope to raise about 1700 chickens at any one time over the 3 runs, to sell to the local community. This will provide much needed income generation for the orphanage.
Director of MCHC, Question Ndou said “We were hoping to have chicken runs of a good standard but we never thought what we would receive would be as great as these! They are the best in the area! We are extremely grateful for them!”
Midlands Children's Hope Centre runs entirely on donations, your support and sponsorship of the new orphanage will make a real difference to the lives of the boys and their future. Donations are urgently needed to cover the cost of the electricity installation and the construction of the new home, please visit the ALERT website to make a donation.
