Watch out - the 2Ls are about!
April 12 2013

Antelope Park's 2Ls are really growing up into very promising hunters and on their most recent Night Encounter caught themsleves a female sub-adult wildebeest! Laili spotted the herd first as Lewa casually kept an eye on them, But as Laili began to stalk, Lewa too began to show a bit more interest in them. With her body low to the ground, Laili made rapid progress and quickly close the gap betwen herself and her prey. Laying completely still for a moment, she then broke from her cover into a chase.

Chaos broke out as the herd fled in different directions. Lewa and gone after a wildebeest which had split away from the main herd and chased it out of sight. Laili also disappeared into a mopane thicket hot on the heels of a sub-adult. Then came the unmistakable distress call of the wildebeest and moments later Laili was found with her jaws clamped firmly around the young female's mouth and nose. On hearing the commotion, Lewa joined the scene and together the young lions finished the kill.

A well-deserved dinner

A very successful night for the 2Ls - and they have the bulging bellies to prove it!
