Sponsor a school or orphanage

The resources available to schools are extremely limited, lessening the effectiveness of the education that can be provided to the children that attend.  There are also many orphanages caring for children that have lost their parents, often to AIDS, that are in desperate need of assistance.  By agreeing to sponsor these organizations close to our project sites you will greatly assist improving the education and care for these children, and therefore their future prospects.  You will also help in building support for our conservation efforts within local communities.  Your funds will help pay school fees for children not able to meet them, ensure that buildings are a safe, nurturing environment within which to live and learn, and will provide resources such as text books and computers to enhance the effectiveness of lessons.

In return you will be provided a log-in to our online system to access updates written by the teachers, care workers and from the children themselves, telling you of their lives and achievements.

Here are some details of the organizations we are currently supporting.  More locations will be added as our funding increases.  Scroll down for details of how to support these projects.

Midlands Children's Hope Centre - Gweru, Zimbabwe works to improve the lives of orphans and vulnerable children by providing care, nourishment, shelter and the education they need to help them towards a better life.  As the Centre is run almost entirely on donations, your sponsorship will make a real difference towards the day-to-day costs of providing food, paying school fees, buying school books and uniforms, as well as funding the drop-in centre that focuses on street children and the city's desititute.  For more details of how ALERT is working to support this project, click here

Mkoba 4 Primary School – Gweru, Zimbabwe with around 2,200 students and an average class size of 55, this school is in need of more classrooms and resources to cater for its growing number of children.  Your sponsorship can make a real difference towards the purchase of teaching aids such as computers, books and stationary and to the costs of upgrading the facilities to allow extra space for learning.  For more details of how ALERT is working to support this project, click here

Monde Primary School – Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe  Many of the 300 students who attend Monde Primary School are orphans living with members of their extended families who struggle to pay the school fees.  Your sponsorship can make a real difference to these needy children by helping to fund their on-going education.  It will also allow the school to upgrade its current facilities and purchase essential resources, such as text books.  For more details of how ALERT is working to support this project, click here

Maunga Primary School – Livingstone, Zambia is the only primary school in an area with a population of nearly 2,000.  Needless to say, it is stretched beyond its means to cater for the almost 200 children who attend.  Your sponsorship can make a real difference in allowing the school to build extra classrooms and purchase additional teaching resources to create a better learning environment for its students. For more details of how ALERT is working to support this project, click here

Question Ndou the founder of the Midlands Childrens Hope Centre in Gweru, Zimbabwe, says:

"One of the most telling impacts of the donations coming through ALERT is the new security of our orphans have as regards their educational needs, groceries, payment of monthly bills and support of Income generating projects. Through ALERT and its Antelope Park partner programme we have been linked with overseas volunteers who have adopted our organisation and fundraised on our behalf; surely this is one of the greatest achievements.”
